Our Leadership Team
John Arie, Sr.
John Arie first started in the industry in 1969 and quickly realized he had a passion for the business and wanted to own and operate his own attraction. In 1975 John opened his first operation in Ocean City Maryland which featured two tracks in the heart of the tourist district. This was the start to a long and successful career as John used his creative spirit and drive to push the limits of the traditional track and park designs that were common at the time. John owned and operated several action parks through the years until he felt the challenge to really go HUGE and develop multi-level tracks. John’s designs were US Patented and they became a reality in June of 1998 when Fun Spot Action Park officially opened in Orlando Florida. After several years of success John opened the second location in Kissimmee Florida which featured just one SkyCoaster attraction but over the years he developed it to a 10 acre multiple ride and go kart track theme park. In 2013 John expanded the Orlando property from 5 acres to 15 acres and added Orlando’s only wooden roller coaster along with other thrill/ family rides and a new brand name emerged FUN SPOT AMERICA THEME PARKS. With 12 acres to still expand on, John is committed to making it HUGE-ER!!!
John Arie, Jr.
The face of FUN SPOT! John is our media spokesperson as well as our Chief Executive Officer. John has played an active role in the go-kart amusement industry since he was a young man, and he has worked in every aspect of the family-owned business. John graduated high school in 1996 and with each stride in his career, he has remained educated with the current operational and management courses to keep him on the cutting edge of the industry, and prepare himself for his current position as second in command of this multi-level, multi-million dollar family-owned attraction.John has been voted and selected by the Orlando Business Journal as the “Top 40 under 40” for 2007, and he was voted as one of the “Top 10 Men to Watch” in 2009. John is also active in his community and serves as a sports coach at his local YMCA. However, John’s pride and joy in his life is his wife and best friend, Tracy and his children TJ and Alexis.
Mark Arie. Mark started working with his dad, John Arie, Sr. at Fun ‘N Wheels in 1983 when he was 10 years old. He attended Heritage Preparatory High School and was a part of the basketball team that won the National Championship, his senior year he attended Valley Forge Military Academy where he later went on to Valencia Community College before returning to the family business. Mark worked at the original Fun Spot in Myrtle Beach and Virginia Beach, then later at the Orlando and Kissimmee locations. Mark has worked in every aspect of park operations throughout his career as he continued to grow professionally and personally from the experiences. Mark’s strong understanding and knowledge in construction, maintenance, and operations has given Mark that cutting edge needed for a strong foundation for his role at Fun Spot America as our Chief Operating Officer.
Sara, with an extensive background in multi-company operations, joined us in 2009, and oversees the daily accounting, administrative, and human resources of our two multi-million dollar companies, including accounting, payroll, social media, IT requirements, property records, and insurance. Sara is also a devoted wife to Doug, mother of Lee and Michelle, and she spends as much time as she can with her granddaughter Faith.
David Hummer started in the industry at John Arie’s Fun ‘N Wheels Amusement Park in 1988; when John Arie opened Fun Spot Action Park in 1997, David came on board as the General Manager. In 1999, David began consulting for Andretti Thrill Park restructuring the operations and training operators, staff and management. After which, he became Director of Operations for the Magical Midway from 2000-2004. From 2009-2012, David was the General Manager of Daytona Lagoon Waterpark, Boardwalk Amusements, and Speedway Park in Daytona Beach, Florida. David rejoined the Fun Spot management team in 2012 bringing a wealth of team management skills and professionalism. In 2013, David accepted yet another challenge as our Director of Marketing and in 2014 became our Chief Marketing Officer.
Jennifer joined the team of Fun Spot Attractions as our Food and Arcade Manager in 1998. In 2006, Jennifer was promoted to Manager on Duty. Because of her passion for training and customer service, and in conjunction to earning her bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Jennifer was promoted to her current position as Director of Human Resources for Fun Spot Attractions (Orlando & Kissimmee) in 2008. Jennifer sets the tone for every new Fun Spot employee and with training programs for current employees for Safe – Clean – Fun Spot America Theme Parks!
Mark has been with John Arie for 27-years. Mark began in 1985 at Fun ‘n Wheels, and has worked in all aspects of the business. He supervises and oversees what we believe to be the BEST maintenance department in the family amusement park industry. The department is skilled and proficient in all the mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical requirements of the park’s operations. Mark is the face of our park’s equipment safety procedures and coordinates the bi-annual inspections with the Florida Department of Agriculture, Fair Rides Division.
Andre brings a lot of enthusiasm to Fun Spot Attractions. He started in the industry at John Arie’s Fun ‘N Wheels Amusement Park in 1988; when John Arie opened Fun Spot Action Park in 1997, Andre came on board shortly thereafter. In 2006, Andre moved into the Track Department’s Sr. Lead position and again in 2008, Andre excelled into the role of Manager on Duty for Orlando’s Fun Spot Action Park. In 2013, as our park expanded from five-acres to 15-acres Andre accepted yet another challenge to become Fun Spot America’s, Director of Operations.
Bill has extensive knowledge in many various aspects of the construction and mechanical industry. He began his career with Fun Spot USA, located in Kissimmee, in February 2008. He supervises a staff of technicians who are highly skilled in all areas of the safety and operation of the park’s equipment, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and IT. Bill enjoys his job immensely and takes the facilities motto of SAFE-CLEAN-FUN to heart. His goal is to ensure each guest enjoys a safe and memorable trip to Fun Spot by ensuring every ride is operating at its safest and fullest capacity on a daily basis, with zero maintenance related incidents. Bill and his wife, Terri, met when she was 13, married 5 years later, and will be celebrating 38 years in 2013. Their biggest joy in life is their two beautiful daughters, Tracy, married to John, Jr. and Wendy, recently married to Buster (also a John) and two wonderful grandchildren, TJ and Alexis.
Terri has been an integral part of the Fun Spot America team prior to our grand opening in 1998. She has held many positions within our company as our Office Administrator, performing responsibilities in accounting, payroll, and as our Human Resource Manager. In 2004, Terri was promoted to Fun Spot Orlando’s General Manager until 2008 when John Jr. took over the company business as Chief Operations Officer. Terri is now our Corporate Administrator and handles all of our corporate legal matters, IT coordinator, and corporate purchases and contracts. In 2016, Terri’s exceptional organizational skills and park knowledge, landed her a new position as our Dean of Education for our NEW Fun Spot University (FSU) Education and Training Program.
Patrick Tuten earned his BFA in Graphic Design in 1983 and started his design studio in 1989 in Longwood. He specialized in signage, environmental graphics, hand-painted artwork, murals, 3D images, logos and graphic design. After 25 years of providing art and graphics for the theme parks and local companies, Fun Spot among them, he took on the task of being the lead Creative for the expansion of the Orlando Fun Spot park. When that project was completed he came on board full time as the Creative Director of Fun Spot America Theme Parks, overseeing the signage, theming, marketing design and assisting with master planning and future development.
As Director of Sales, Renee is in charge of all sales operations. Renee also directs the Fun Spot Hospitality Team, who liaise with all guest services representatives, hotel concierges and front desk personnel, ticket brokers, time-share representatives, and any other authorized ticket vendor. Renee and the Hospitality Team provide brochures, marketing materials, and information about Fun Spot’s two locations to everyone working in the field of hospitality and guest services.
Michael Benner is the Director of Food and Beverage for Fun Spot America – Orlando, and Kissimmee Florida. He started his career in 1991 with the purchase of his first concession stand. From 1991 through 2007, he ran his own Food and Beverage business traveling to Fairs and Festivals across Pennsylvania. After 16-years running his own business, Mike decided it was time for a change of scenery (and weather) and moved to the Sunshine State, where he was offered a vendor location in Fun Spot Kissimmee. In addition to operating Food and Beverage locations in the park, Mike was always looking for ways to expand and grow the Food and Beverage Department, and regularly contributed to Fun Spot in any way possible. In 2012, Mike was offered the position of Director of Food and Beverage, and was tasked with the expansion of the Food and Beverage Department of Fun Spot America, Orlando. Mike currently oversees the operations of both parks Food and Beverage with a focus on high quality Food and Beverage, quick service in a fun environment.
